Hi NES!
Knowing where everything is and what you have and what you don't, is half the battle.
And sometimes you have to ask yourself, if I buy this tool, how many times in my life might I use it?
If the answer is less than 5 times, might want to rent the tool when you need it.
I got a lot of "hand me down" tools from my father as he tinkered with American made cars and fixed a lot of things around the house when I was a kid. I used several sized pipe wrenches and a faucet wrench maybe 3 times in my life, so it wouldn't be something I would buy to have on hand, just in case.....I am happy Dad had these for me.
I have always owned "
used" toolboxes most of my life up until 2 years ago.
I finally bought a US General box from Harbor Freight on the cheap (compared to Snap On and Craftsman).
I keep my drill on the top for easy access.
I also bought a heat gun, I maybe used 3 times so far, a grinder, and a bunch of drill bits (you can never have too many drill bits!)
I also have a lot of cheap tools like pliers, wire cutters, and channel locks as I don't use these a lot or everyday...so they're "good enough!"
Having expensive tools in which some get lost and misplaced is a really bummer!
Careful in what you invest in.
So, what are some of the tools you are lacking in your box? Are you working on cars, fabricating metal art or welding, plumbing pipes, woodworking cabinets or structural buildings, or just general tools for everyday use?
I think there is a "tools for sale" somewhere on the forum...sometimes you can find those tools that aren't used much, on the cheap!
Good luck on your tool hunt my friend!
