i have a awsome old snap on postionable head ratchet (f872mp), the problem is that it is a sealed round head that is d/c'd. does anyone know the real manufacturer? a replacement kit from somebody will work (not picky), just want it usable again....

Have you tried contacting Snap On to see if they still sell the repair kits? Most companies still stock repair kits for some time after a product is discontinued. How old is the ratchet?

FYI it's a royal pita to fix. you want to put a tiny dab of grease into the holes where the spring goes to hold them in place, then you have to angle the selector plate so the little tab on it catches the heart shaped spring without pulling it out and then set the plate down. You then need to hold the pieces front and back to keep the spring captured while you screw it in.

Just remember this after the first 5 tries; it can be done :) Once you figure it out, it goes much smoother.

sadly, the angle selector plate is whats broke! the anchor or little tab snapped off. the ratchet is only 8 years old, i sent it back to snap on( one dealer in our area, and not a good one) and got a letter with the tool returned saying "discontinued, there is no warranty that applies to this product". unfortunately, i paid off the account in 2008....
