I have a Wells Cargo trailer. One of the Led lights only lights up halfway down. I don't know how to even take it off. On the inside I took off the cover-you just see threads so the screws holding it on are on the outside. I don't see any screws, it's 10 years old, I don't want to break anything so just trying to figure out how to remove the light to check it on the bench. Other lights are on, just dim.

Likely a bad ground connection. Look for wires that connect to the sheet metal or frame of the trailer. Disconnect and sand any rust at those ground connections and reconnect.

Some of those trailers came with "fancy" strip lights with hidden screws under that bezel that comes off, light is probably just toast.

It’s not a bad ground or connection when half the LED fail.

Water got in or the driver failed.......either way the light is junk. Been there.....done that.

Some are screwed from the back others screwed from the front, still others glued on with silicon.

The whole idea LED lights last for ever......is a bit of joke.

LED lights are GREAT, when the work. PITA when they don't. I see problems even with the oval and small square boat trailer type lights with half of the LEDs working due to a bad board, just throw them away.

Want to take it off to check, not screwed in from the inside. Removed the inside corner cover-there are 2 screws that are threaded in from the outside-but you cannot see them from the outside. I just wondered if anyone knows how to open them to get to the screws. I'd like to take a chance at a fix before I trash it anyway as it looks like a custom light from Wells Cargo.

It won't help you today but I'd call up your local Wells Cargo dealer (if that's a thing) and see if they can point you in the right direction. Its possible it was put in with a sealer :eyecrazy:..urethane, RTV silicone, epoxy, etc and needs a knife blade.

There is nothing serviceable in that light, Remove and replacement of sealed lights is pretty common today.

Yea, but how is it removed? I'm pretty sure that's what hes asking. even if it needs replacement. Hes asking has anyone else had a light like this, you know exactly like this one, and can tell him how it comes apart or how to remove it from the trailer.. if he wants to tinker with it that's his business.. :bounce:

Unfortunately I have never worked on one like that. I'm guessing the lense pops off to get to the screws.. :dunno:

This might help, doesn't look exactly like yours but it may use the same method.

Is it possible that the chrome piece on the outside just snaps in place?

Once he finds the correct replacement he'll see how it mounts.
If there are no screws it'll be 2 sided tape.
