Repairing a ripped camper awning

I must have hit an overhead branch with my camper and it put a small rip in the awning. I hate to say it, but I was considering white Flextape (yeah, the stuff on TV) since it's 4" wide and the right color. Any other suggestions for a tape type product I can use on an RV/camper awning (roll-up tarp type material)? Flextape is ungodly expensive, but I don't want to use duct tape for obvious reasons. Thanks!

What type of Fabric?

If it is PVC use another strip as a patch and Hot-Air weld it [using a hand roller]

If it is a woven fabric, Try and sandwich some double sided hemming tape between the fabric and a patch and Iron it on.

It's a Dometic electric-roll up awning that is fiber reinforced and covered with white vinyl. Here's what Dometic calls it: Heavy-duty, scratch resistant and UV protected polyester reinforced vinyl fabric with weather-shield color

There's this stuff, Eternabond, that I've used on body seams, but don't know how it would hold up on an awning. It needs to be pressure rolled for a good seal. Narrower widths and shorter rolls are available.

On a related note, my uncle told me he coated the first 1' or so of his awning that's exposed when rolled up with Flex Seal (yes, the same sold on TV stuff) and it's stopped all weathering. He prefaced it with "you won't believe this", cause he's a custom home builder and isn't one to do jenky stuff.

You've probably seen it, but Camco sells repair tape. I have no experience with it, but it's worth looking into. I just replaced my 20' awning and it was like $350 shipped direct from CareFree of Coloarado.

I ended up using a Flexseal 'patch' (3"x4") which perfectly covered the ripped area - and I put a patch on each side. Seemed to stick very well, but we'll see how it holds up over the next year. Colorado UV will fry nearly anything, so it's UV properties will be well-tested.

When in doubt use white duct tape. Then replace the awning fabric from dometic, not a bad project.
