Repairing an Armstrong torque wrench?

I fished a 1/2" drive Armstrong torque wrench out of the trash at work the other day. The boss said, 'It's busted." I'm not sure, but there may be missing parts. The end of the handle is open, and I can see a threaded rod and a nut. Any idea what's supposed to be there? I figure it's worth messing with a bit, considering the price. It's a 150 ft/lb. model. It seems to be hard to find drawings and other useful info online. Thanks for any input!

The threaded rod and nut are how you calibrate it. The threaded rod should have an allen/hex opening in the end of it. The only way I've ever done it was to keep playing with it and comparing it to one I know was calibrated and I eventually got it close. I know there is a technique to doing it, but it requires scales or other electronic devices... My way worked.
