Repeating spam posts. What is it?

In the general tool section there is a bunch of posts from S Korea that I guess I would call spam. It is in Korean so few here would be able to read it and it seems to repeat. What is the posters objective? I have seen similar stuff before.

Spam, nothing more. It tends to go in spurts, here and there.


Report and be done. Ryan will get it taken care of if one of the other Mods doesn't see it first.


If you think it's spam, report it let it get checked out. When you see a new member (recent join date) and only a few posts, post something like "+1" more than likely it's spam as well. What you may not see is the hidden link. If you preview his post by quoting it, you might see the link.

There have been some advertising posts recently on FB, coming from China. One that caught my attention was a small 'hobby-sized' electric belt / disc sander combo, going for around $25 or so. I decided to take a chance, and about 2 months later I received 10 small sanding belts in the mail - no actual machine. Info on the company is sketchy, so they got me. Not worth the hassle to go after them.

I've seen the same ads recently, with a different distributing company name behind it. There was at least ONE comment from somebody who DID receive the machine, so who knows…….

I guess what I am wondering is what does the Spammer get out of it? It seems like a waste of their time.

I'm guessing, a paycheck in some sort of way.

Most of this stuff is automated via a script, application or some other tool. Some forums are protected against this so they pay people to blast this **** out there. They don't care about the forum, the users, the subject or any of that.

There are many millionaires out there that have gotten rich off this ****. Mostly from Russia, India and other Asian countries.

I've posted links to technical articles on this before but if you really want to be enlightened and entertained you can search "scam baiting" on youtube. There are guys who make a very good living off of f'ing with these scammers. They mostly mess with the fake tech support guys, but it gives you insight into how it works. Its a volume thing.

FYI the videos are hilarious but I don't recommend messing with them like that unless you know what you're doing.
