I use my sears horizontal band saw for most of my projects. Presently building a new steel rack and doing repetitive cuts. I can't find an extension that would allow me to

just move the metal forward and make another cut, always re measuring and cutting, remeasuring and cutting.

I just clamp a piece of scrap on the outfeed side of the band saw table at the desired measurement. I prefer to have a pointed end towards the new material so shavings don't build up between the stop piece and the new piece, which would throw off the measurement.

Does it really take that much time to pull a tape and make a mark?

Make a story stick for each of your multiple items. Just put a hook on the far end to catch the end of the stock and make your mark. If you want to get really fancy, put a sliding hook on the stick and use it for any lengths. You might make a shorter and longer version.

So make a jig or table extension that will allow you to just make the repetitive cuts. :D

I have a portable vise stand that I have used to hold a stop. Place the vise near the saw and then clamp a stop rod in it hanging down and at the right length. It worked for me.

klutchdust - This may not help in your situation but if you need to make matching short cuts try a carpenter's square.

- set the square to the desired length
- put the fence of the square on the end of the metal you're cutting
- slide the metal and scale up to the saw blade
- clamp the metal in the saw vice
- take away the square and start the cut
