I am attempting to troubleshoot an aube floor heat thermostat that the owner claims never worked.
I determined that there was no power to the unit and that the hot wire running to the breaker box was never connected to a breaker. I connected the hot lead and now have power to the thermostat and nothing comes up on the display. Aube told me that the thermostat must be defective so I am now ordering a new one.
My question is this: There are two sets of wires leading to the floor heat system. The black wires go into slots on the thermostat for the sensor. Additionally there are two wires that I presume do the heating. These two wires have a threaded wire inside of a plastic casing wrapped by another threaded wire with another plastic casing. The inside two wires are connected to the load leads from the thermostat. The two outside wires are connected to each other. Since I don't know what the floor heat system is and have no experience with them I am wondering if this is correct.
Can anyone tell me if this is typical of floor heat systems?
