some older craftsman's just pull out, and some even older ones have set screws, like matco and some other truck brands I've picked up over the years.

those, however, are pressed in and disposable unless you can find somewhere to warranty it...

before you toss it, try grinding the end down flat to get more use out of it. I do that to allen wrenches. don't get it too hot.

I just cut up old hex keys and press them in. My snappy's are just straight hex stock though, not so easy when they're necked down like the one shown.

as they are stepped harder do much with them.
does look likely end could be ground and tidied up though .

OP, I was able to remove the insert on my craftsman by pulling them out with a bit of force, there is some kind of spring clamp inside that holds them in. I replaced them with WERA + bits, a bit of force and the new bits fit right in.
