You could use a hot water formable plastic (example), and shape out the handles exactly as you wish.

It's possible to add dies/pigments to it to get the color you want, or just paint it after application (otherwise it's white).

UPDATE :

So, here is where I'm at with my quest at the moment. I ordered a blue pair of OptiSource grips thru Amazon to find out what size they are and if I liked the grip. They showed up today ...... black. I called OptiSource to see what happened and found out that the blue ones were discontinued along with all the other colors they offered. So, now it's the Henry Ford ordering system, "you can get it in any color you want, as long as it's black".

The grips are longer than I expected (4 1/2") and are perfect for 8" handles. For 6" handles you can cut them down. They're a bit short for 10" handles (6" needed). They are slightly textured rubber foam and should give a non-slip grip.

They aren't what I was looking for, but will serve for now until I can come up with a better source for smooth vinyl blue grips.

Below is a pic of some of my Utica #511 pliers with the various grips I've tried so far :

1 - 6" w/original blue vinyl grip
2 - 6" w/ Klein #55 foam grip (too thick / squishy, not to mention bright red)
3 - Klein #60 tenite grips (hard plastic)
4 - OptiSource #34-OSTBLK black foam rubber grips (thinner than the Klein #55's, thicker than the original dipped vinyl)
5 - 8" w/ original blue vinyl grip
6 - 10" w/Ideal #35-008 tenite grips (hard plastic, heat formed to fit)
