As the title says, I'm looking for a source for replacement ballast covers. I only need 1, and it looks like this. Anyone know where to get them?

In order for a donor fixture cover to work properly, they will need to be the same make. Lithonia is common & will be easy to find, Smoot-Holman on the extreme end is not a common one for example & they won't interchange.

It can be tough because there is limited interchangeability between brands. There should be a label on the top of the fixture that tells you the make/model.
Good luck.

In a pinch, you should be able to fold light gauge sheet metal over an edge enough to approximate that cover. It might not meet a code but if not inspected with a lot of scrutiny it should suffice. You can get enameled sheet at many stores but better to try and find salvage as the piece might be more expensive than the fixture.

I'm not familiar with that fixture.

Thanks for the tips everyone. The only stickers I can find say they are "simkar". I googled that and found an old government auction where someone bought like 150 of them for a couple of hundred bucks. I sent an email to the closest rep but never got, nor do I expect, a response.

At this point, I'm going to try and find another one, they are out there, I just need to locate someone selling a few.

SIMKAR E-79578 is the unit if anyone has any ideas or better google kung-fu then I do.

I seem to remember reading that Simkar lighting was having financial difficulties if so that is why you’re not hearing back from them, might be cheaper and simpler to replace it with something more efficient. If you have to have a troffer style, LED models have come down in price. Edit: Simkar lighting has probably gone the same route as Smoot-Holman lighting and they ain’t no more.

I've converted these all to LED already, just need the cover. Thanks for the info though. I may have to just get another one, but I'd like it to at least "look" close to the other 11 hanging from my shop ceiling. :)

That was my initial thought too, Zeke. Some white coil stock and a few quick bends on my trim brake. That's assuming you don't have to buy a roll of coil stock and find a brake, otherwise a donor fixture would be my next choice.

[Rant Mode]
Simkar fixtures aren't worth trying to find parts for.
They're supposed to be based in PA, but are more cheaply built than any Chinese POS fixture.
Sharp extremely flimsy ill fitting thin sheet metal parts. Especially bad on parabolic 2X4 troffers. (bad habit of falling apart even after installation).
[/Rant Mode]:)

We had to tell our lighting suppliers to quit sending them. (We installed hundreds if not thousands a year)
