Replacement battery for jump pack

We just got a new JNC but in the post about them others said they have replaced their batteries in theirs. I was looking at amazon and there seems to be a variety of them that are the same size and pretty close ratings, 12V 18Ah. They all look pretty much the same. This one says it averages 4 years, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000RAVT58/?tag=atomicindus08-20. That seems like a pretty short life for how little it will be use? Is there anything to look for when getting a replacement battery for jump packs?

These are the same batteries that are used everywhere in emergency lighting and battery backups for computer systems. I buy mine from the local electrical supply house. Take the old battery with you and they will find one with the same specs. Probably even give you a few dollars to recycle the old one. They are always less expensive this route.

I've replaced the batteries in a couple of my booster packs along the way. I always remove the battery and take it down to Batteries plus and find a replacement with more capacity in the same physical size. They take good care of me at my local store. They know me by name.

The only things to look for when selecting are physical dimensions, terminal post arrangement, chemistry, voltage and capacity in Milliamp hours. I get about 4-5 years out of one.

I thought I remembered guys saying their jump packs last about 10 years or so? That's why 4-5 years on a replacement seemed low to me.

Mine didn't last 10 years, but I didn't exercise it regularly. I suppose its like a laptop battery, have to charge and discharge to get full life expectancy out of it.

We had one at the shop that went nearly that long but like everything else, it seems this stuff isn't as good as it used to be. Or maybe we're harder on them.

From my experience batteries plus is usually pretty expensive. The one I linked to on amazon has free shipping.
