Replacement Edger Wheels

Why does the axle have to be 7/16" so that you can only use wheels with a 7/16" diameter bore? Most wheels are either 5/8" or 1/2".

$50 per wheel so I'm looking at $200 for a set of edger wheels from Mclane.

I could get so much better quality wheels from the caster store if I didn't have to adhere to the required 7/16" bore size.

Have you considered making bushings to use wheels with a larger bore? Is it practical to replace the axle?

McMaster has all sorts of 7/16 X 5/8 bronze bushings. C'mon. You've got 10K posts and have no idea how to adapt a 5/8 bore to a 7/16 shaft??? I know, you just want to complain. "now get off my lawn!"

The plastic replacement wheels seem to be front and rear specific, while the steel replacement wheels have only one part number per diameter.
