What is the current replacement for pot-lights?
I have pot-lights in my kitchen and hate them. They came with the house and had halogen bulbs. As those died I replaced them with LED’s. they seem to burnout constantly, like every few months I’m replacing a bulb.
The bulbs are not available everywhere so I have to keep an inventory.

Also they buzz.

Last week I was in Home Depot and looked for replacements but didn’t see any. When I bought the house the big can lights were the style.
Im sure there is something better but my knowledge about interior lighting is 15 years old.

What are people using these days? All I’ve seen are the low profile lights with a spring that holds it in place, are these any good?

I have some of those "pancake" lights that I am installing at my house. Love 'em.

Depending on your source, they might be 800-1100 lumens, but I have them spaced about 6 feet apart and they light everything up quite nicely.

They require a 6" hole in the ceiling, so they might fit in your existing holes. Since you already have power to the light, it will be easy to connect the j-box that comes with the light.

those lights seem to be a decent price and many are switchable for colour temperature which is a nice feature .
not sure how long they will last , but they are easy to install , look good and seem overall a decent light .
just my $0.02

The thin puck lights are not really a good replacement for a can light. I've used them for a closet or when nothing else will work, definitely not a first choice.

If you have existing cans and want to keep them just use an led retrofit trim.

I've installed these in customer houses for years. Some of them are probably getting close to 10 years old. Maybe had one or two failures out of hundreds.

I don't have a single can light in my own house. Not really a fan of that type of lighting.
