Replacement Garage Door Panels

My garage was constructed in 1978. It has wooden panels and they are not in the best shape. I would like to replace them with Modern insulated metal panel sections. Is there a place that i can purchase just the panels? My hardware is nicer and sturdier than any I've seen in the door "kits" that i have seen at any of the big box stores and i'd like to reuse it.

When I was looking for a good used door on CL I did come across a couple places that sold individual used panels. Also, when I spoke to an installer he said they would sell a used door, if they had one, just to get it out of their space.

Local installer may have used panels, but New are available as well.. understand that many of the older wood doors were 1 3/4" thick. Most new metal doors are 1 3/8 or 2" thick. Some commercial is still available in 1 3/4 but not many. You may have to shim out your track or pad in your opening to get your old track to work. Then the springs are matched for the weight of the door. They are available in 5 lb increments so it does matter. Also, the bottom brackets are engineered by the door company, and are very brand specific. Sometimes it's easier and better to install the door as a complete system, the way it was designed.

I just bought a new door last week. 7 x 16, Non insulated but hurricane rated. 1,400 which includes 250 dollar install. Complete all new hardware, haul off the old one and a 15 year guarantee.
Seemed reasonable to me.

Hello You didn't mention what type of panels you have. I have replaced 1/4" flat panels in 1 3/4" stile and rail wood garage doors. I routed out inside quarter round with a jig. (The moulded quarter round was about 3/8" which it about the depth of grove). You will need to clean out corners by hand. Remove damaged panel (look for rot in bottom of bottom groves) replace will new. I my case was 1/4" plywood.
