I have a Craftsman 27675 5" random orbital sander that needs a replacement pad. The old one disintegrated.

The owner's manual calls it a base plate and has an obscure part number (2PES03A2000000A-00). The only place that part number shows up in a Google search is in the owner's manual.

Are these pads at all interchangeable? Does anyone know how to identify a replacement pad that will work with this sander?

Identified as 21 below.

TIA.

It appears that Positec made that sander. They also make Worx and Rockwell branded tools, so I'd look in those directions.

Standard pads for r/o sanders have a 5/16-24 threaded stud for mounting. If that's what yours has then you can find replacement pads from a number of sources. I've always found the 3M pads to be the best and longest lasting but they're also about the most expensive ones out there.

You have a choice between pads for PSA discs and pads for hook and loop discs, depending on which type you prefer.

Harbor Freight has a replacement pad available, but its such a wobbling piece of junk that its not worth installing on a sander even if it was free.

Home Depot has a DeWalt one. I would buy it and at the worst have to re-drill the holes.
They have a hook and loop pad for it too.

I tried the Dewalt 4388 from HD. It has the same three screw arrangement as my Craftsman sander but unfortunately, it will not work.

The center opening of the DeWalt pad is slightly too small to fit over the collar in the center of my Craftsman sander. Also, the sander has locating pins. The back of the DeWalt pad does not have accommodations for these pins, even if if the center opening was the proper diameter to fit around the collar.

So far, no dice finding a replacement. None of the specifications I can find for replacement pads online indicates the diameter of the center hole.

This is what remains of the original pad:

I understand, but if you can't find an original, I think it is doable. there may be someone in your area that could help you if you're not comfy adapting it.
just offering suggestions

Any luck on finding a replacement or modifying one to fit?

I am in the same boat as you and the pad if falling apart.

Thanks

Just a comment, I have a Porter Cable and the pads just don't seem to last any length of time, even with light use.
