First off is this doesn't belong in this part of GJ please let me know where to have it moved.

I hit a dog the other day (he's ok, just bounced off) in my daily driver/beater 04 Dodge Stratus and broke the front bumper cover. Since I dropped collision insurance on this a awhile back I'm going to have to fix this myself. I have everything I need to paint this so I'm good there.

I looked on RockAuto for replacement bumper covers and noticed they carry 3 different levels of quality. Economy, Regular, and CAPA certified. There is only about a $25 dollar difference between all 3. Not having done this before I'm inclined to order the CAPA certified cover unless you guys think otherwise. I mean $25 bucks is $25 bucks.

Also is there any other vendors I should consider for purchase.

Any opinions...

If you want to go jobber id go capa. Big improvements in fit and finish over the years and for 25$ more you cant go wrong. Just test fit it on before painting it.

X3 on the CAPA part. DO NOT buy ANYTHING from PUY. The stuff is pure garbage. It doesn't fit, mounting tabs are missing, holes in the wrong place, etc.

Not sure if they have them for your model. But for many cars you can get prepaint factory color body panels off ebay for shockingly cheap. I got a front bumper cover for my gf's father's 07 camry off ebay. Came perfectly painted factory color for 90 bucks shipped to my door. I earned some points on that one...

do you have a LKQ store in your area? they sell caps parts as well as value line. Value line is the harbor freight of aftermarket parts. sometimes it'll fit...sometimes it won't.
If the part doesn't fit to your liking then return it or complain...96% if you complain they'll give you the caps for the same price.
Me personally, I HATE putting aftermarket **** on cars, never seems to fit like it's supposed to.

Heads up, but hitting an animal is under comprehensive and not collision. If you have comprehensive call your insurance agent. Been there, done that...

I've had decent luck with the cheap non-certified covers for my customers who have beaters such as yours. Sometimes I've had issues but nothing to panic about on an older car. However, the CAPA parts are generally nicer.

For a beater daily, there ia no way the deductible and rate hit would be worth it. If it was newer and all the paint needed to be blended or the part was expensive, maybe.

Comprehensive is usually not expensive, and covers a lot of non-collision issues.
