I am looking for a replacement switch for a Delta 17-900 drill press. It looks like the original part I need has been discontinued. I have found several that claim to be replacement parts. The price is cheap enough that I am tempted to just order them and see, but they are up to 2 weeks shipping time. I can wait if I need to, but would hate to wait and get the wrong part.

Can anyone recommend a good dealer that will most likely get me the correct part?

You can use any 120v toggle switch as long as it’s rated for the amperage. I had the same issue with my delta drill press, ended up just drilling a hole in a plate and putting an aircraft style toggle on it. I didn’t want to wait for a part to come in so I just got what I could from the local hardware store. Google ‘120v power tool safety switch’ and you will see a number of styles that could work for you.

I would suggest forgetting about using an OEM switch and replace with an aftermarket paddle switch like these:

I replaced a lot of my machines with them

Sorry no link but I buy mine from Amazon.

Here is the switch I took off it. I saw some of the same switches that have been linked in the thread and I noticed that they have four connectors where this switch only has two. I just don't know electrical well enough to know if that makes a difference. I strongly suspect that it does not make a difference. My guess is that is so that the drill can be wired for 240.

it doesn't matter most of the drill press switch are DPST (double pole, single throw), that is because in case you have a 240V setup or reversed the cord in a 120V setup, or something... the safety is both lines are switched off, so you are safe...... the one you have is just single pole single throw.. (SPST).... just use one of the pole from any of the swith that fits....

in your case you can just replace with any switch that fits... if you don't mind about the looks

I liked the one post by lis2323....
