Replacement tubing for Motive bleeder?

I like the Motive brake bleeder, and I like to use it as intended by filling it up. But for some reason the tubing they ship with it is not compatible with brake fluid and starts to split. This is a pretty egregious screw up on an otherwise good product.

Does anyone know what kind of tubing will stand up to brake fluid so I can replace it?

I have had mine over 3 years, used it at least 25 times, and have had zero issues with it. I'd suggest contacting Motive if you are in fact experiencing a legitimate issue.

+1.

I've had mine 3 times as long, used it twice as much and still have the original tubing. Something isn't right here...

Just to add a little background- I bought this Motive in 2006 and use it a few times a year. The first split happened a few years in. I spliced in a connector with oetikers. Lately it's been splitting every time I use it (not near a connector), and today it split many times. Fortunately I know to look out for this and no harm done.

Clearly I'm asking to much from this tubing and it's time to replace it, but with what? I'll try the chemical resistant tygon I guess, but I'll never just trust it. Too risky- I'll always set up to handle a leak. I have to recommend that, but do what you think is right for you.

This defect of the Motive is not unusual in the p-car community. We usually use this stuff (or the blue version before they outlawed it). Maybe it's harsh on Motive's tubing.

I went with this tubing (Tygon 2375):

And these Oetikers:

Connected to the Motive today and fit seems perfect.

Edit - McMaster's description says 'not recommended' for hydraulic fluid so I guess I'll keep looking.

Brake fluid is glycol-ether based, which is related to ethylene glycol - engine coolant. This stuff has excellent resistance to ethylene glycol. All the items in the not recommended list are petroleum products. You're probably OK with regular brake fluid.

I really don't know anything about chemistry, so...

And oh yeah, the ATE Super Blue was overrated. It just turns your reservoir blue making it harder to check you fluid at a glance.

older BUT good info as my OE tubing on the motive power bleeder "died" + the typical hardware tubing is too soft + needed xtra support. ordered by phone directly as prices are crazy $$$, about $25 for 10' but a high $17 estimate for shipping + handling!! i use ATE fluid + miss the blue that makes it eze when doing a flush, now all is the same!!

I have had my Motive bleeder for almost 20 years. I moved and misplaced it for about 5 years and when I found it the tubing had browned in color, felt sticky to the touch and was deteriorating.

I ended up going to Home Depot and buying some clear tubing and was back using it with no issues.

The tubing on mine blew up. What a mess when brake fluid blows all over the place! Corrosive so you want to get it off the paint ASAP. Replacement tubing is cheap and widely available online and in stores. Just need the right diameter and I don’t recall the size — maybe 8 or 10mm or 5/16 or 3/8. Replace it before it gets too old

The tubing in mine did eventually deteriorate and get very soft, having only used DOT 3 & 4 fluid and storing the bleeder in a covered 5 gallon bucket. Motive supplies the tubing by the foot for a very reasonable price. Also took the opportunity to upgrade to their quick connect fittings, which come in handy if you've got a few master cylinder adapters.
