hi I've been gifted a 2 post ramp hydraulic type but just found out the 3 phase motor and contactor is shot I would like to replace it with a 240v motor the original had a rpm of 2800 but doesn't state hp how would I go about selecting the correct motor and sundries to change it with i'm confident I can do the engineering side of things i.e couple it up to the hydraulic pump ect its more the motor rating ect i'm not sure of. thanks in advance

Yes, 2800 is not a common motor speed. Maybe a picture of the whole hydraulic pumping system would also help. One option you may have is to purchase a complete new pump.motor package.

Its a little more complicated than just swapping the motor.

If it is 3-phase and has a starter, then other stuff has to be changed. If the starter is newer and the overload relay has phase loss protection then a wire will need to be added to trick the phase loss circuitry.

As i said, its a little more complicated.

And are u sure the old motor is 3-phase? 3-phase motors dont usually need or have capacitors.

Post up some pics of everything.

2800 rpm is the speed of a standard 3450 rpm motor driven at 50 hz (Euro specs). It should be no problem to find a motor like that. If no horsepower is shown, the amperage and frame size may provide adequate clues.

Post pics!
