I want to replace my standard type of garage door operator with a Liftmaster 3800. There are 2 doors involved in this change over... one is a 10' x 10' insulated metal door that presently has a 1/2 HP Liftmaster track opener, and the other is a 9' x 8' also with a 1/2 HP Liftmaster track opener. The reason that I want to change the openers is that it will give me additional space under my 4 post Bend Pak lift. Will the Liftmaster 3800 be a swap without any changes to the springs, etc.?
Thanks Junk.......

Hey Junkman. check your doors for manual operation! As long as they are working fine, you should have no problems at all. Just make sure you have a minimum of 8'' sideroom from your end bearing at the top to the wall or whatever. The 3800 can be mounted on either side of the door if there's a problem. Take the old ones down..slap them new babys up there and your good to go.. Good luck!!

It can be installed in 6 1/2" tight but it will fit.

Your springs will be fine. Just make sure your cables are TIGHT when setting your drums. If you have any slack in the cables the 3800 will throw them off the drums (spools). For whatever reason these machines are picky...

Worst case scenario you may need to install spring pushers and ball bearing rollers to combat this. You also need to make sure you lube the door up well with the 3800 operator. Just telling you from my experiences...
