Thinking about getting vinyl plank, I have children and dogs. Is it really durable? Would you suggest anything else?

It’s what I’ll put in my entire house. Have installed in a few other houses for people. Very durable. I like the loose lay stuff that you can either glue perimeter or whole
Floor and no click junk.

I have the us floors luxury vinyl XL.

Forget the full name.

The XL is wider, like 8" I think. Its the click style. Goes in fast because of the wide planks.

Sub floor has to be pretty flat, but more important, no voids or sudden dips, It will show through or break the joint.

My wifes 118 lbs, very excitable chocolate lab has not scratched it, despite running around like a dufus every single day.

So far, happy with it.

I just installed 1200 sq/ft of the vinyl plank flooring. I found it online for half of what the local places were selling it for. We went with Mannington Adura Max - Dockside Driftwood for $2.85 sq.ft delivered to my curb (I have a forklift). They make it in a click lock and a glue down. I opted for click. I believe the glue down is probably better...can't really say why or how much better, but all commercial flooring is glue down so that says something. I just didn't want to deal with it (installation or future removal). The click lock stuff, in this brand anyway, goes together very solid. I am confident in it. Looks good too. Can't speak to durability but many reviews say it is.

We were between the US Floors Coretec & the AduraMax. About the same price and one has cork attached to the back and one has foam attached to the back, so no foam underlayment required. We just liked the color in the Adura a bit more.
