You can get replacement handles from snap-on but most likely they do not make the EXACT one you need any more. You may have to drill out the new one to match the old one.

To remove the old one clamp the ratchet metal handle in soft vise jaws with the plastic handle pointed up. Then use a prybar or two to pry the plastic handle off. To install use a deadblow.

1: put a belt or something similar around the ratchet to avoid gouges in the chrome
2: put the ratchet in a vise
3: if you want to save the handle use something to protect the handle from gouging(open ended wrench, washer, etc.) then take a couple of prybars and remove the handle that way
4: align the handle the way you want and put it on with a deadblow

For soft handles:
1: boil some water
2: put the handle of the ratchet in the water for about 3 minutes
3: using hot pads(the handle WILL be hot) hold the head of the ratchet in one hand and pull with the other hand on the handle
4: align handle and drive on with a deadblow

My rep is finally coming this week. The only thing I really need is a bunch of grips for my ratchets and whatever impulse buys I make. So my question is can you replace soft grips with hard handle ones without modifying the hard handle? These 2 definetly need grips and I wanted hard ones, but will do soft if it's a major PIA. I at least want the same soft ones so they match.

My snap-on guy does just like deskmechanic described. He switches handles to green for me.

Question answered then. I had one rebuilt before, but never thought to ask for a handle to be swapped. Seems logical they can do it with their little workstation.

So this was my snap on guys idea to replace my ratchet handles this morning. We cooked them. Then we just pulled them off by hand very easily.
