Have 2" of closed cell spray foam on the roof. Has any removed and replaced the metal on a pole barn that has been spray foamed with closed cell? I've heard some people say it's impossible to get it off, and others say it comes right off and the foam stays put. I'm assuming the foam is going to be damaged, I'd just like to understand what to expect on the removal side.

Thanks,
Scott

Why wouldn’t you just put it on top? More structure. Just have to have profiles match

I think you'll find it's no big deal at all. Every time I've seen someone on the internet proclaiming that "it's gonna be impossible to replace the metal" it's someone who 1.) advocates against spray foam every time it's mentioned.....AND 2.) the same person wil admit they've never had it and never done it. 3.) they just don't like the stuff and don't believe that anyone should use it.
I actually HAVE a spray foamed building with closed and open cell used and while I haven't had the need to remove a full sheet, I HAVE removed window sized sections from both.
I found that it is no big deal. It's similar to separating Velcro.... But the cheap knock-off kind of Vecro that doesn't really adhere well anyway.
Surprisingly, the metal on closed-cell was easier to pull off(!) it also comes off cleaner, evenly. Metal pulled from. Open-cell will have more "residual" foam left on the sheet.
