Around here the combined heat and A/C outside mounted HVAC units are called gas-packs. Is that the correct terminology so that the guys on this forum will know what I'm referring to?
My daughter is having to replace her Rheem 3.5 ton gas pack unit. The guy she's talking to that was recommended by several of her friends wants to replace it with a Goodman unit of the same size. He said that the Goodman quality problems of the past had been markedly improved and he recommended them now. He wants $5000-$5500 for the Goodman and said he'd put in a Rheem like she's got for about $1000 more. He says the Goodman has a 10 year parts warranty and he'd warranty the install for 2 years.
What say ye GJ HVAC gurus? Should I advise her to go with his advice and get the Goodman or insist on the Rheem?
Thanks in advice for your advice. I always appreciate it.
