I have a KRA4107/KRA4114 tool box that needs new drawer slides. Slides are roller bearing approx. 1-13/16" wide x 17" and extend to approx 34". Part number is 8-2388AL (left) and 8-2388AR (Right). I need eleven of each. They don't seem to be on Snap-on's website. However, Snap On sells part no. 8-05288ALRS with the description "Includes left/right side kit with screws, for all narrow and wide drawers in KRA2000/KRA4000/KRA5000 series units and KRSC series carts". In typical Snap On fashion, there are no size specs. Does anybody know if this is the right replacement set for the KRA4107/KRA4114 tool box?

Also, are there any other sources to buy these drawer slides? I tried ebay and Google with no luck.

Thanks.

I have a KRA4107/KRA4104 tool box that needs new drawer slides. Slides are roller bearing approx. 1-13/16" wide x 17" and extend to approx 34". Part number is 8-2388AL (left) and 8-2388AR (Right). Those should be lifetime warranty.

Call SOT and tell them what you need.

My Chrome computer is shut down right now but if I remember, I'll check the part numbers for you.

Thanks. I bought boxes used. My understanding is Snap On will only replace drawer slides for original owner. Appreciate your help! thank you.

Nope. I got mine replaced on my own KR 1000/KR1100 (made in 1987) for free 2 weeks after I got which was earlier this year. They just asked me how many of each style of slides thatI needed, I didn't get greedy. I just got the few that I needed
All but 2 cleaned up like brand new in the safety kleen tank once I got 27 years of grit out of them. I took them out of the chest and cleaned them up...
The ones that didn't clean up were bent.

A guy I work with just got a couple krsc slides replaced no questions asked. Another guy I work with bought a kr1001? & expected to get everything free. Ended up paying twice as much to fix it as he did for the box. Worth a phone call either way.

Cool, I'll give them a call on Monday but I needed a set earlier this year for another box and had to buy them. Snap On told me because I wasn't original owner they were not warrantying it. I'll try again, probably depends on who you talk to, LOL. Out of eleven drawers, I was able to piece together three that seem to work properly and one that is very tight. The other seven need new slides. Most of them are broken and missing either the bearings or bearing carriers or both. It was that way when I bought the box. Just getting around to fixing it now. Figured I'd replace all the slides while I'm at it. Have all the drawers out now so it would be pretty easy to do.

Called yesterday... warranty only covers original buyer. I ordered nine sets. I seem to have three of the original sets working, LOL. Going to see if I can double up the slides on the large bottom drawer even though it only came with one pair.

Decided to refinish primarily the outside of the boxes while I'm at it. They were in pretty good shape but had a few minor dents and scratches. Got it in primer now, coming out pretty good so far. Luckily they're black, so it should be pretty easy to match drawer fronts (fingers crossed).

I used my Devilbiss Finishline primer gun with the D-kups system again. That gun is awesome if anybody is looking for a new primer gun. Highly recommended. Also, I'm using the "D-Kups" system and clean-up is a breeze. Really happy with this gun so far even though I've only used it on a couple of projects.

I called SO to get 3 drawers worth of replacements a few months ago...gave them the model and serial # off of the tag, and while I was the original purchaser 17 years ago, I made no mention of it and they didn't ask. Call 'em up.

I called and spoke to them yesterday. First question how did you acquire the box? Response I bought it used. Sorry, warranty only covers original buyer...

This is actually the second time I've called for slides and had to pay for them both times.

The friction slides on my Snap On box that I bought off the tool truck in the early 80s are still fine, LOL...

You ruined a perfectly good opportunity with the truth.

"I bought it years ago while I was working at a XXXX dealership, I can't remember the guy's name, but he drove a truck that said snap-on on the side. He weaseled a bunch of money outta me for other cool things to stuff the box with over the next few years, which is probably why the slides are shot. I think his name was Mike something...maybe John...one of 'em was a ****, I can't remember"

Then you woulda had your slides.

Bought it used purchased new ones from Snap-on drawers are good. Not happy with shallow depth on most of the drawers though seriously considering jumping over to the dark side with some HF options sure look nice for the price.

Old thread sorry. Still have the Snap on but keep looking at HF. I seriously don't know what they were thinking making drawers so shallow. Have trouble opening and closing pretty much anytime I reach for a tool. The HF US Generals look like pretty good value for the money. Was looking at a Giant icon box today seemed very solid but didn't ask price. Happy New Year all.
