I plan on replacing 4 track lighting runs in my garage with a set of 4' LED ready (or converted) T8 fixtures. In another section of the garage I already have 3 MaxLine LSU3XT8USE4806 fixtures which I like very much. These are 3 bulb LED-ready wraps filled with James 18W LED Tubes.
I really like the tidy look of the wrap fixtures, which seem to provide plenty of light for my needs. So I was hoping to carry these through the rest of the garage. The trick is, the track lighting is installed below living space, and fed by 4 pancake boxes (one per track) in the garage ceiling. Hence there's no easy way to re-route the wiring in the ceiling to service the new fixtures.
My initial thought was feed one fixture from each pancake box and then use EMT between the fixtures to extend the circuit. I figure I'll need linear runs of at least 3-4 fixtures to fill the space. The one downside with this idea is that the wrap fixtures only have knockouts on one end, owing to the hinge on the other needed to remove the lens.
So far I haven't found any T8 wrap fixtures with knock-outs on both ends. I guess I can run the EMT around the side of one of the fixtures to get to another, but that seems kind of ugly.
Anyone with any better ideas on how to configure this?
Thanks.
