I'm looking to determine the thread sizing of this inexpensive WEN 2-axis vice. Was hoping someone could give a good guess based on just the images I posted of the thread pitch measurements and the fact that major diameter is .466"/11.88mm. Thread pitch seems to be a bit in-the-wind and not ending on-the-tooth.

Best guess is it's a general purpose acme 2G thread. Looking at both SAE and metric charts I can't correlate dimensionally.

*EDIT* -- Oops, just noticed I posted in "General Tool Discussion".

*EDIT* -- Pretty sure I have it ID'd as TR12x3
.

If the above link is to your vise the the description contains the following;

Each hand wheel features machined 0.1 mm increments, each full turn representing 3 mm of travel.

So your lead screw is a 3mm pitch. If not your vise then measure the travel of the vise in one turn of the handle and you have your pitch. If measuring make sure to take out the backlash before measuring.

In your first picture you show 3 threads in 9mm so it seems 3mm pitch would be correct.

convert your .466 to metric and its near 12mm so most likely 12x3 .

Much appreciate the reply larry g!

Good sleuthing there. You picked out the exact model along with the descriptor that I should have caught. Was going on the cheap with this item expecting it would take a little tweaking to make it fairly acceptable. To my surprise backlash is a full 3/4 turn of the handles. My intent is to add a sprung nut to each lead screw for pre-load. Looks like I'll give the TR12x3 a try.
