In the addition that I am working on the existing hot water pipe for the 2nd floor heating zone needs to be rerouted because it runs across two doorways. The feed and return both come up in the same wall (marked with the black X). I want to reroute the return from the location marked at "2" down to the basement to where the boiler will be moved (marked as 3). The only problem is that segment of baseboard (marked as 1). Is there any reason why they couldn't keep the existing pipe feed where it is (coming up at X) and double back in the baseboard marked 1 then bring it around with the original piping and down at 2?

Gimp which I can't figure out where the "Draw line" function is so its freehand. The enclosed black area is the original house, the blue area is the addition. Thin red line is the heat pipe, thick red line is the current baseboard locations.
