I just wondered if anyone had tried one of these?

It basically looks like an end-mill to me. I've used diamond burrs such as a dentist would use for similar tasks, but just wondered how good these bits were.

I'll start by saying I do alot of broken bolt removal (repair shop on the side). I've looked at those a number of times over the years and I just can't justify the cost over regular carbide burrs and and bits.

It seems gimmicky when they compare it to a hacksaw blade. Talk about apples and oranges.

If they used the bit to remove a broken tap, they'd have my attention. But, you can tell who they're marketing towards with a video like that.

I swear to god that thing looks just like some of the bits my father has for dental work. Would not surprise me at all to see that they are repackaged dental bits...for a tidy markup of course.

I beleive I'm going to obtain some of his bits and see how they work before I shell out the money for a Rescue Bit.

They don't show you how long it takes to actually cut through something...

I use to make infomercials for Telebrands and I can promise you that if they need to sell it on an infomercial it is not worth it. We had a term called legal lying that would describe how close we could get to tricking customers with out getting sued.

Haven't watched it, but here's a 42-minute "demo" of the RescueBit:

Maybe it addresses some concerns?

ETA: Skimmed through the long video, looks like they're drilling into a tap near the end. Jump to 31:00.
