Our house is 10 yrs old and we had a sealer put on the garage floor when it was built. After 10 yrs, I don't like how it's looking and wanted to have it epoxied. But the builder said they'd have to remove the old sealer first, and being retired, we didn't have the money to spend on that.
So I inquired at the paint store and they said I could scuff up the floor with sandpaper and reseal it with a tinted sealer, which would freshen it up for me.
We wanted to do this as a DIY project. First, would this procedure work? And how difficult would it be to scuff up the floor. He suggested just using a hand held pole sander. Doing it this way, we could get by for about $100, plus sandpaper.
