So I’m looking at a property in Marysville Ohio and there is a 46x30 pole barn on it. The steel siding is in rough shape and many of the nails on the siding and roof are missing. So I thought it would make sense to freshen it up and just re side/roof it. Should I at that point do the large rolls of pole barn siding on the roof and the walls.

Thanks for your input

Yes it will be heated. I see lots of threads where people don't want to pay the cost of getting spray foam. or having problems with the studded walls / batt insulation and condensation.

I have never seen anyone that is as crazy to suggest just pulling the siding off and start fresh.

Also that brings up the question. Could I sheet it with OSB and house wrap then reside it? would that be any better? Keep out the critters?

Critters like gaps, anywhere in the structure. Doors, walls, roofs, should all be solid. One part of that is building tight around the bottom, to concrete. As I recall from metal building construction, there's a "base angle" which basically seals off the bottom part of the corrugations, sometimes placed in a step on the outside of the monolithic slab. If that detail is not present, then a ton of gaps for air infiltration and critters. Osb would do the job, but have to keep it dry, hard to do if its right against the slab, and its not raised very much off the finished grade.

I'm thinking that I would do the OSB and the insulation on the outer shell. Do it once and do it right. OSB will provide support beneath the metal siding.

I read into thing to much, so I have to ask.

Do you mean?
Post then osb then the big bat insulation then the metal siding. Or more like a house. Insulation between the posts then osb then house wrap then the siding?
