For sawdust you need a particulate filter and for spray painting you need a chemical filter; so unless you don't mind changing back and forth with filters, you'll need two masks.

I like the 3M 6500 series masks. fit and comfort is pretty good and they have just about any filter you would need.

I just use the cheap dust masks for most jobs. I really need to get something better. Those cheap ones really don't filter much of anything...

I have a Survivair brand mask, My work stocks the vapor type filter, I only use the vapor filters though, I figure if it is good enough to filter vapors it is good enough to filter our dust. I may be wrong but it works for me

keep in mind if you are going to wesr a mask for any length of time , to consider one with a snorkel tube so as to allow less weight strain on your neck...........the ones that go over your shoulders and down your back are very popular with the welders at work and by having the filters away from the cantaminats, they last longer................i also highly recommend taking a respirator course, opens your eyes to a lot of miscoceptions.............

Any good web based respiratory course / articles members found useful and practical. More often than not its better to ask first to zero in on the subject than sift through a lot information. For this ....

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

I have that same one,and I think I paid around $30.00 for it,so that is a good price.I like how I can paint a lot,and not have that heavy-feeling on my chest the next day,or two like before. The only drawback is that the rubber body edges and straps dig into your face leaving marks that last ,but do disappear after a few hours. I regret not using one in my younger years.

Thanks for the reply. Amazon is convenient for me to buy from because I am a foreign buyer. I'll order one now to try it.:bounce:
