Restore and Use or Keepsake?

These belonged to my Grandfather who passed away in 1994. He was a Union Carpenter in Knoxville, TN. The question is do i clean them up and use or clean them up as keepsakes? Estwing E3-22SM and Greatneck No. 50.

If you find them comfortable to use, do so. If not, decorate with them. Neither is currently a high value item, so sentimentality should rule.

Clean them up and use them. The Estwing is probably a nice hammer - I just cleaned one up last week.
The hacksaw - common low-end hacksaw frame.
Both perfectly suitable for users.
Not so much "collector" value in either.

You can always do both. I use all of the heirloom tools that I have. When they are not in use, they are displayed.

I learned how to do elecrolysis rust removal on a saw frame just like that one. Could probably do the same for the hammer - immerse up to the edge of the handle.

Clean them up and use them, and think of granddad swinging that hammer a generation ago. And then hand them down to your kids someday.
