Picked up a 1/4 hp split phase grinder, its still in work, but wanted opinions on the red and name plate options. I'm split on the red color not sure if I'll keep it, and the plate was FUBAR'd when I bought it - thought of replacing it with a craftsman logo or decal

So did you do a bearing replacement? If so - how hard is it to do? I picked up pretty much the same grinder and it will need bearings shortly. I've never tried it . . .

Cheers

I like that color scheme. Good job.
If there's a flea market nearby see if you can pick up a trashed craftsman tool box or socket set box for cheap just to get the plate off it.

Jim,
yes, swapped the bearings - very easy. both stayed on shaft when removing housing. only thing is the right side housing has a inner lip so I had to remove bearing from shaft before I could remove the rotor. After cleaning new ones went on no problem

I like the red, maybe you can have the label reproduced in vinyl or wet apply decal and stick it on the plate. I think member thundermug made a decal for my drill press.
