Hey guys,

I know that this may be a dumb question, but I recently acquired a vintage Liberty tool box that I've decided that I'd like to restore to hold my vintage tool collection.

My question is, what do you think is the best way to go about doing this without damaging the box? I assume you can use a chemical stripper, then wire brush, and then paint with a spray paint (Rustoleum) type spray.

I'm thinking about doing a grey box with a blue/green drawers like the ones in the picture.

Or, frankly, do you think that I should just leave it as is?

Sorry, this is my first tool box restoration so please excuse my ignorance!

If you do choose to restore it, get ready for a lot of work, especially in the drawer nooks and crannies, where the wire brushes never quite seem to get everything out.

With respect to these restorations, I'm of two minds-- 1) either set yourself to the task, take your time and carefully strip everything, then spray with the best paint and primer you can (automotive urethane, or basecoat/clearcoat) or 2) just wash it off, scuff it down as best as you can, and rattle can to where it looks good 1 or 2 feet away.
