Please forgive me, this is my first forum post ever.
A little back ground. My grandpa is in his 80's and is getting too old to use his tools anymore, so they were passed down to me. The one power tool that really grabbed my attention was this old block grinder which was in terrible shape.
This grinder looks identical to "lil brownie" After gently removing the thick epoxy paint that somebody "my grandpa" painted all over this thing. I was able to make out the model #115.19500. I have already started to completely restore this thing. My problem is, the electrical cord was completely removed. "my grandpa swears it works, he just needed the cord for another tool" So the stator isn't wired to anything and neither was the start-up switch that is mounted in the right side chassis, also the capacitor is missing.
I have a couple questions that I'm hoping there is somebody here that can help with on how to rewire this grinder.
1) The stator has 3 wires coming from it. They are red, white and black. Where do I connect these wires to the new plug I bought
2) Where do the start up switch wires connect?
3)) My grandpa says he ran it without the capacitor for years. Is it OK to run this grinder without the startup capacitor?

Thanks to everybody that reads this and any help would be greatly appreciated!!

With 2 posts since 2015 it’s doubtful they have been back much.

he might be lurking! hehe I didnt look at the post count.... besides he may have quit because nobody cared enough to respond to his post. Hopefully he will get an email when he sees my reply and come back here and tell me about his build. Hey I try to be optimistic.
