I have several (six) S-K toolboxes, ranging from old with some rust, to nearly new looking. After lining them up with each other, none are matches. Yes, they were made at different times, but there is not one consistent shade of green. So if you're thinking about a repaint, I would go with whatever deep green hammer effect that looks close.

You might take your best samples and get them color matched, Home Depot does a pretty good job of matching paints me.

I don't repaint my S-K toolboxes. I use a rust remover (usually baking soda with warm water). Then WD-40 (for the oil & grease) and wipe dry. Then Dawn detergent & warm water & towel dry. After setting outside (to completely dry) I spray on a couple of coats of lacquer to protect.. Yes, it takes a little time, but I'm usually cleaning or working on other things too. So far, good results - a clean protected box that shows signs of use. If a box has too much rust, I don't deal with it.

That’s a great way to preserve history. 🍻

When you have a chance, why not add a few pics to this thread. Before and after pictures are especially interesting, at least to me and a few other restorers here. We all like pics.
