Hi everyone. New here and appreciate the add. Read through many of the posts about this topic and have some questions on seeing what people’s results are. I want to know who has mounted their Minisplit over 8’ to the bottom with roughly 11-12’ ceilings and how is it doing? I have a 25’x 25’ x 11’ with r13 all the way around. Installing an 18k Mitsubishi hyper heat and want to know what’s best range for mounting. The airflow chart only shows up to 106” ceiling with unit mounted lower than 8’ I want to make sure k won’t be too high. I currently have the unit mounting plate at 8’ 5” to the bottom and clears roughly 18” on the top. Curious if anyone has similar set up and what did you do or what are the results. Lots of people have asked on here but then never come back say what they did and how it turned out. Thank you in advance!!!

In our great room of our house, the indoor unit is about 12’ off the floor and about 1 foot below the ceiling. It was installed for cooling, not for heating, and is a hyperheat type unit. It works just fine. The room is 24’ x 36’ and it’s a 24 k head.

I have a higher mounted unit and find getting out and using the 8 foot ladder to clean and service unit too much effort. Keep in mind I am 75, which you may be someday.

30 X 40 with 14' ceilings. Mitsubishi Air handler mounted approx 12' up, smack dab in the middle of rear 40' span. Works great at that location

Have a 10 ft ceiling, I mounted about 16" below the ceiling, seems fine, heat seems even across the garage. I notice the hot air travels 30ft to the other wall and goes down the wall and spreads out. I am only using one of two units at the moment, the working one is approx centered on a 35 ft wall. I am actually surprised how even the heat is.

So do you use it for heat? Heat is probably the main concern in my garage. Ask for it being decently insulated it stays cool from shade and stuff in the summer. Winter though it gets chilly. How far can you feel the air off the unit? I want concrete to stay dry. Had moisture issue before. Ran a dehumidifier now and will probably still after unless his does it for me.

It’s actually running for heat right now, but we don’t use it for heat in the really cold weather, because our primary heat in that room is the wood stove. So it gets used for heat in the “shoulder season,” when it’s too warm during the day with a wood fire, but heat is needed in the mornings and evenings. You can feel the air flow about 30 feet out, so it projects well.ABB25438-F757-4627-A099-EF9A4693487D.jpeg

Update to my finished mini split. Figured I share since I completed that task. Set at 8’5” from th ground since I had the taller ceilings.
