You probably will enjoy this account of Glen Curtiss's flying boat on one of the NYS Finger Lakes, Keuka Lake. It's a replica.

His flying boat Triad was the basis for the USN aviation effort at Coronado Island.

It was Glen Curtiss who set records on land, in the air, and starting from the water. He was 'the fastest man alive' before WW I on land and in the air. His V8 motorcycle he designed from a dirigible engine he created, made it so (136 mph in 1907) for the land portion.
