I checked out a lot of threads on here over the years as guest, (jack Olsen is my hero). I thought I'd join and see if I can't contribute a little something to the board.
I recently retired after 40+ years as a mechanic. I logged about 5 years in independent shops or gas stations. 9.5 years in a Chevy/olds dealership and 30 years as an engineering mechanic for one of the big three. I also worked 9 months in a machine shop but decided I'd rather twist wrenches.
Most of my time was spent in the Detroit area except for a 6+ year stint at the AZ desert proving grounds.
I retired in Detroit in 2015 and immediately returned to AZ to live full time.
I'm a reasonably accomplished woodworker, sorta decent machinist, and a pretty crummy welder.
My main goal since moving back to AZ is to get my shop condensed from a large basement to a one car garage stall. This goal is hindered by the fact that I hike as much as I possibly can.
