I'm attempting to build a tuscan style pergola, the floor is irregular in as much as it is not a rectangle. one side is 16' wide and the other 20' wide by 36' long. I've installed four columns approximately 12' apart on the 36' lenth.
The columns are 8' in high.
My question; will the cover be stuctualy sound by installing 6x10x12 as headears and 6x10x20 joist and the lenths will be reduced as the installation reaches the narrower side. A total of 10 beams will be used.
Douglas fir is the intended of wood to be used. The patio is free standing approximately 15' from the house.
