This 28' X 21' garage has been a long time coming. I am to old to be working on the floor to work on the cars. Building this additional garage behind the house strictly for working on the toys. It is about 75% complete, need to finish the exterior siding and get it painted before the rains start showing up. Inside I need to finish the insulation, sheet rock, work bench, install the roll up door, set up the compressor and lines. Electrical is all installed along with the heat and A/C, Roofing and gutters are done. Almost time to just enjoy working in it.

Looks good. Its always a ongoing project. I've been working on my "Man Cave" for 4+ years. Mine is 24'x21' only 8x21 went to Mrs. Cat in the form of a screened in catio. Just when I think I'm almost done I find another thing I need to finish. I have done all the work on mine myself except for the concrete work and pulling the permit on the electrical.(did all the electrical work myself) But thats half the fun and satisfaction, I know you have enjoyed things this far. Enjoy the journey. Mike

Truckin, that is a very nice shop. Looking up I see some openings, is that for windows or is that the siding you talking about. Like the light opening is letting in. Looks like others here also have some good accomplishments so congrats to all.

I have done about 80% of the work myself. I had all the concrete done, I had someone set the trusses and someone else do the roof and gutters. I am upgrading my electrical service from 100 amp to 200 amp service so the garage will have its own power and not interfere with the house. Now waiting for the local utility to get out and make the connection to the new weather head.

You are correct the light areas in the back of the shop are the areas I need to still finish the siding. I was originally not going to put windows in but I am now leaning toward installing a couple of horizontal windows up high so it doesn't interfere with shelving I may want to install.

Since you're still in studs, you might want to over-insulate the heck out of it. I remember how hot summers are in the Diablo Valley...
I have started installing R-19 in the walls and will install R-30 in the ceiling. You must be from this area since you know the Diablo Valley area

small update on the man cave build. Finally got the new 100 amp service completed and electrical in the garage completed. Insulation is in and sheetrock was delayed as my installer and his brother both came down with Covid. While they couldn't come out I decided to install some of the sheetrock on the walls and get it taped and painted. At least something was getting done by doing that. They have since made it out and all sheetrock is installed and taping is done. The cold weather is not helping with getting the mud to dry. Hoping to get it painted in the next couple of days. The garage door is being installed in about a week finally. It took a while as I was I wanted the door installed to open higher than normal and wanted a side mount opener. Here some updated pictures of the progress. Hopefully will be able to post final pictures in the next couple weeks.

finally got it painted, cleaned up and a few signs hung up. Spent part of the day getting the peddle car up on the wall. More signs to hang but that will be another day. Need to work on getting compressor room in corner done and lines run. Time to start using the shop and putting front brakes on my truck.

Garage is finally done and ready to use. The Nova needs a few things done and then I can put my 63 Nova Wagon on the rack and get started on it. Putting in all new Power Rack and Pinion steering, upper and lower tubular control arms, sway bar and coil over shocks. The motor in the corner is done and waiting to go back in the wagon.

Time for the Wagon to get all the rest of the bells and whistles.
New power rack and pinion steering, new upper and lower control arms, sway bar, coil over shocks. Disc brakes all the way around, air conditioning, new digital dash. New serpentine pulley system on the front of the motor. Who knows what else I may decide to do. Can't wait to get it done and go out and enjoy this classic

Wagons are the next short beds.

Have you considered just making it all original and awesome? They drove pretty decent as-is if they were in good shape....

these old cars don't handle for **** and this one steers like it has flat tires. Trying to make it very comfortable and easy to drive.
