Retrofitting LED shadow lights to Miter Saw

Thanks for the help in a previous thread - I've picked out my new Miter Saw - a Bosch CM10GD. No laser, no LED shadow setup.

The lasers seem to get mixed reviews and although excited as first to get a saw with built in laser - it wasn't a big selling point in the end.

However, the DeWalt XPS LED shadow system does look impressive. Obviously I didn't get a DeWalt saw, so I'm looking for ways to retrofit that concept onto the Bosch.

Has anyone done this before? A bit of googling only brings up a single 'instructables' page where somebody added HF LED's to their saw to make a similar system. I was actually thinking of trying the DeWalt XPS add on kit and seeing if it would fit on the Bosch with some trial and error.

Anyone else ever done this?

After doing a proper search for the same answer, I discovered this poor soul that never received a reply.

So, GJ'rs- help us both out!

Looking for a LED light that could be retrofitted to a sliding miter saw.

Thoughts???

I know this seems odd, but I added a LED sewing light from EBay to my drill press. Works awesome, hard wired right in, came with a strong magnet and flexible shaft.

To be clear, I'm not trying to duplicate DeWalt's XPS shadow system, I just want to add an LED work light so I can see the cut.

If anyone can offer how to set up the shadow rig, that's welcome too!

I'd like to know if I can get it towork on my DW715 gen 3 model. I can't figure out why Dewalt would change this up on the new models. They saved pennies on each one sold? Wish I knew that before I bought the damn saw!

I know originally this is an old thread originally, but bosch does sell a laser arbor for their saws now.

I actually bought a new bosch 12" miter saw last summer and the fact it did not have a laser or light did not affect me a bit. I have found that I get a much more accurate cut when I rely on my eyes instead of the aids.

My Makita 10" SCMS didn't come with laser. I added a retro-fit one made by Irwin that replaces the arbor washer. Turns on when the blade spins, off when it stops. Works good and is right on the cut line. The only gripe is I wish it would stay on for several seconds so I can "bump" the switch to activate the laser, then align & finish the cut. With the laser only on while the blade is spinning I have to make the final nudge while the blade is spinning. Not the best idea but there's still the blade guard for protection.

Actually I purchased a magnetic LED sewing light off Ebay or Amazon that worked perfectly with my drill press. Hardwired right to the drill press, magnet is strong as hell, has a switch, flexible shaft, and prefect amount of lighy.
