So I posted on here a few years back and literally got virtualy no responses or help. I assumed it was because I wasn't old enough or nobody wanted to answer my ridiculous questions.

Well i'm here to try to hang out again. I've been in my new house for a little over 2 years and have a 2 car garage now.

I've got a grizzly 15" 240v planner, a 1 1/2hp porter cable 14" bandsaw, an old plastic body delta table saw, some simply long ridiculous M/W radial arm saw, craftsman router w/ plunge base, a 6" belt driven jointer and some regular cutting tools.

Either way i'm sub par at making things. But I did achieve making my first rabbets or tennon joints today for a box I through together to catch the oil dripping from my car i'm working on.

I'm pretty good at everything else, just the wood working side I lack creativity and image lol.

My biggest problem right now is identifying wood. Any good ways other than density or grain?

And I almost forgot the 100lb ball dropping 14" sprunger drill press. Doesn't have the original motor but there's still a 1 hp on the back of it. More than enough power to put a 1" fostner bit into wood with ease.

Jo: don't feel like we ignored you cause you asked questions and didn't get an answer cause it still happens to me and i know more than a few members i can email or PM (private message) too.

first off you need to ask questions on threads talking about specific items which might help a lot cause this intro section only gets a few of us looking here. also i've had questions go almost unanswered like how to install a stair lift so i started a new thread on it and practically found all the answers myself so i posted them up for the next guy or gal to find.

sounds like you have a good place with some cool tools so i'd recommend getting on threads and asking questions with pictures if you can. about the wood grains and types i'm still learning them too and my Grampa was a logger and had me up in the woods working with him 55 years ago. check out the Woodworking 101 thread and introduce your self there with pictures of your tools and ask specific questions or just watch and learn and tell us you like what you see if you do. the link for that thread is in my sig line cause we just started it a couple weeks ago and it's got some great stuff already on it.

welcome again and this is a pretty friendly place and most of us try to make it better.

cheers
