Reusing Fluid Transfer Pump

Tried searching and couldn’t find something this specific as what I was wondering.

I was going to get a 1 gallon sprayer and convert it to a fluid transfer pump, in particular for ATF and Differential Fluid changes. I know cross contamination is bad. Assuming after use I spray the jug out with some brake cleaner (would be hard to clean the hose but can save specific ones for each fluid), and assuming i run a little new fluid through it before each job first to clear things out before putting the fluid in my car, can I:

1) use the same pump for ATF and Diff Fluid and maybe some other fluids too (not brake fluid, that’s too corrosive for my blood)

2) if no to (1), can I use the same pump for different types of ATF fluids for example and get a separate one for diff’s. I was looking to use it on Toyota’s and BMW’s and Toyota CVT’s really want their special ATF in there so I was worried about cross contamination.

Thanks for the advice! As always, this is the best forum to turn to for these types of questions.

I wash out my funnels, fluid pumps etc, after every use. I first use paper towels to get as much of the fluid out. Then I wash with soap and water. The fluid pump I have has a big enough throat that allows me to clean the inside throughly.

It sounds crazy.....I know.

I actually paper towel dry my funnels too, then hand wash them. Never used soap though, I would use friction more. I do try and use engine oil on one filter, coolant of any type with another, etc. But funnels are cheap are store easily so I don’t mind having a couple. Not looking to have to store multiple fluid transfer tools.

For differential fluid, I use this. I just pump it directly from the brake fluid bottle so only the pump and its hoses get dirty. I also wash everything afterwards with soap and water.

Thanks. I’ve seen though and have considered grabbing one. Don’t think it’ll work though for the Toyota CVT ATF since that comes in a big metal can. Seems like a waste of time to pour it from the can into a compatible bottle too just to use it. But maybe i grab one of those and a sprayer jug too and call it a day.
