What Rory said above. The Mackenzie technique and products enabled me to be active again. I would be down for the count for days at a time. It has been well over 8 years since I have had a back "episode". At 54, I can mountain bike again, work out, do projects, etc. The Mackenzie technique helped me understand what was happening, how to recognize the signals, and prevent it from happening. Google it - Robin Mackenzie or Robyn Mckenzie...can't remember exactly but hit the combinations until you find it.
Also, my background was mostly bodybuilding with some powerlifting. I was good in the bench and squat but horrible on deadlift. When the back started acting up the squat wen shortly thereafter. I believe I could power lift again if I wanted to, I just don't have the desire. Turned into a cardio junky for the most part about 20 years ago.
