My son does a little computer work on the side, he was changing out a screen on a laptop and needed some small screw drivers, I had some HF ones that got the job done but I would like buy him a quality set for him for Christmas

Any feed back on a nice set would be appreciated

I did look on the sears website but there are 500 different sets with no reviews:eyecrazy:

There's another thread just like this going on, universal answer is Wiha. They are great drivers...

Don't pass up a look at Moody... they're USA made, cheap, and incredible quality. I've used them professionally nearly every day for years.

I use Wiha alongside the Moody, and I consider them equal quality. The Moody can be had for cheaper in some instances, especially if you're looking at the ESD drivers. I would suggest looking at both depending on what you're buying.

This set is wonderful:

Basically, you're looking at an 8pc. Moody ESD set for $23, vs. a 6 piece Wiha ESD set for $30.

I'll say it one more time to insure it is not overlooked since your original post mentioned laptops. Many laptops require Torx to work on them internally.

That's a killer deal on that Moody set!

I have 2 Husky 6 in 1 screwdrivers that I use for small stuff...one is phillips/flathead and the other is all torx. Not the greatest but they do the job!

And a lot more than just torx. I've come across all of the following:

Philips
Sloted
Hex
Security Hex
Torx
Security Torx
Torx Plus
Security Torx Plus
Pentalobe (New to the market on some electronics and watches)

Oh, and don't forget precision nut drivers, too. I use these...

philips - 1 0 00
torx - t8 t6 (t7, t9)
nut - 5 mm (sometimes there is smaller nuts but they are easily removed with mini pliers)
slotted - 3.5 mm and few smaller 1.5 2 2.5 mm (they serve mainly as pry)

these fits to 99.9% screws on laptops

also for complete laptop disassemble you need a couple of tweezers, mini picks, mini pliers and side cutters
