This is my review of J.H. Williams supercombo wrench set ws-1172sca. 5/16 to 1 1/4.

I got these to replace my Craftsman rp wrenches. Wanted more length and wanted to try a "fancy" open end. Wasnt sure I wanted the grooved open end till I compared it to my craftsman's, what a difference! In my opinion they'll do less damage. Instead of rolling the corner over, they put a small bite mark in the side and thats it. I have a picture of the supercombo on left and craftsman on right.

The beams are stupid thick on these, over the 1" it looks a little ridiculous but smaller sizes looks just fine. The 1 1/4 is 1/2" thick on the beam, come on now! Don't think they'll dig into hands:)

These are some of, if not the nicest wrench's I've seen. Box and open end are formed very nice. The box end outside is very true to the inside, some of my craftsman's are not. Open end teeth are of same length. Edges are very sharp and clean, not rounded over. Chrome is very good. Theres a few metal bits here and there but nothing major. The 1 1/4 where the open end side is relieved, the chrome isnt perfect. Almost looks like its going to peel but we'll see. I'm guessing its just the steel underneath.

The Wrench rails I got for them are ernst low profile, not sure I like them thought. Its hard to pick one out because they're so close together. I got them so they'd fit in my 2.25" tall drawer but it isnt even close with these, biggest wrench is about 1.5" tall on the rail. Probably not to much the beam will fit into either.

I would for sure recommend these to anyone looking for good quality wrenches. They're a huge upgrade from the rp.

Nice review thanks for posting I have the Bahco branded ones which are exactly the same but no notch in the open end.

I really like them also.

Thanks Gareth

Ha, yea they say USA. I got lucky, it was an auction without a buy it now. I stayed up till 2 when it ended to see what my auction sniper did. Couldn't believe it. My wife probably thought I was crazy when I yelled SSSSWWWEEETTT!

I scooped a metric set off eBay back in May 2007 for $36 + $11 S&H. Nice.

The sizes run from 9mm-23mm, but missing the 10mm, 12mm & 22mm.

I have the same SAE and also the MM set and I would put those against any other wrench, to me they are the best all around wrench.
