Hey everyone....I am tired or risking my head with my 2.5 ton sears jack and need something with a higher lift reach anyways. I see some mentions of this HF 3 ton low profile jack on here and some people seem happy with it, but on their website the reviews are "eh"...I also understand more people are apt to leave a bad review than a good one. I also understand you get what you pay for, but I can't justify spending 2-300+ bucks on a jack I am only occasionally going to use.

I have to maintain 2 sedans, and my pickup so the low profile and high lift interest me.

Just looking for some feedback from folks on here that may have purchased and used these. I also am not against the non-low profile version but it does seem like it would be more convenient.

Here is the jack I am looking at:

And here seems to be an identical jack..earlier model?

Thanks in advance. Sorry for the massive picture...couldnt figure out how to make it smaller without editing it on my pc..

I have the 3 ton non-low profile jack. Actually I have two of them - one I keep at my folks house out of town and it gets used maybe 5 or 6 times a year. The one that I use regularly has started to lose lift after about 7 or 8 months of use. By this I mean that if I jack up the car and dont have stands underneath it, the jack will slowly start to lower without me doing anything.

I've tried 'bleeding' the jack per the instructions, but to no avail. I still use the jack alot, but I make damn sure to get jackstand under the car immediately. NEVER EVER trust this jack as your only means of support.

Otherwise, for $80 its a decent buy.

How about the costco one? I've read some really good reviews on it. Arcan IIRC is the maker?

I have the 2 ton low profile, high lift jack from HF (Item #68050), and after using it for a couple months bought another for my Dad.

Bled the hell out of it and it works great. Gets used weekly in my garage, and I've only had it about 6 months, but have no complaints in that time frame.

I bought this after having three Craftsman jacks fail on me. Why keep paying Craftsman prices when the HF jacks perform better? Remember, a jack is for lifting the vehicle up so you can put jackstands under it. Not working under. Any jack can fail on you so just be smart about it.

I always put jack stands up... Dont want any "Darrin of the year" award. the craftsman floor jack I have is freaking scary. The cotter pins that hold the support arms to the landing pad popped off when I was using it. And this is the one I received after returning the original for doing the same thing..

Ah well, thanks for the input.

I have that jacks predecessor. a non rapid pump jack and I can vouch for it. After owning it for almost 3 years it still works pretty good. a nice long handle. and its nice and heavy.

That jack seems fine to me. Altho ive never really been a fan of "rapid pump" jacks but thats because ive never felt that I need to get a car in the air any faster than the normal jack will.

One thing I do find funny tho is that it has one grease port on the entire jack. And thats where the main arm connects to the body of the jack.

Anways my only complaint, at least with mine anyways, is the release. its real finicky. the difference between a nice slow controlled release and dropping the car to the ground NOW! is about 1/8 of a turn. so just be carefull but overall its a nice jack for the money

oh and invest in some nice wheel chocks. I am a fan of the heaviest biggest ruber ones you can find. I use these one big rubber ones that probably weigh about 3lbs a piece. So short of stealing some ment for aircraft for work I cant find any bigger.
